Original Paintings

Linda works in a variety of media, including oil pastel, soft pastel, colored pencil, water-soluble colored pencil, pen & ink, & graphite. Sometimes she combines media, such as in her series of “mini” paintings, where she uses water-soluble colored pencil with pen & ink & gouache.

Being skilled with many different media gives Linda a tremendous amount of freedom to express herself & to communicate with her viewers. For example, in Peonies, she specifically wanted to communicate the fluffy – yet volumetric – quality of the flowers in a rather large composition, so she chose Sennelier oil pastels because of their full-bodied creaminess. On the other hand, the depiction of texture required for her rendering of Gargoyle was better handled by colored pencil on vellum bristol board.
